The Advantage Archives "W.L Douglas Shoes" Watch
This watch is more than a timepiece, but it is also a conversation piece. So when you are asked about W.L Douglas ad on the face of your watch, you can tell them about Mr. Douglas, and what made him unique.
William Lewis Douglas, the Governor of Massachusetts in 1905, also owned one of the world's largest shoe manufacturers. He started the company in 1875 after taking a loan of less than $900. The key to his success was his strategic plan of not selling his shoes at department stores, general stores, or catalog, but open his own chain of retail stores. By doing so, he made his high quality shoes much more affordable, as he had no 3rd party that needed to mark up his product in order to make a profit. Between his stores, and low cost of his shoes, he was giving back to his community in new and unique ways.
